NEWS FLASH - Lionhead Rabbits have become the 48th officially recognized breed by the American Rabbit Breeders Association on October 22, 2013 at the national ARBA convention in Harrisburg, PA. Lionheads have been accepted in the varieties of tortoiseshell, in black, blue, chocolate and lilac and also in ruby-eyed white. Thank you, Theresa Mueller and Cheryl Rafoth, of Pridelands Rabbitry, for all your efforts to pass this breed.
As of February 1, 2014, lionhead rabbits (in the above varieties) will be eligible to compete with all other breeds for Best of Breed and Best in Show. They will be eligible to earn legs, championships and be registered.
I have a small rabbitry in northeast Pennsylvania, near Scranton and Wilkes Barre, specializing in lionhead rabbits. My rabbits are raised indoors, handled daily and are tame and sweet.
